2007 Mini Cooper Automatic Transmission Repair in Beaverton, OR

I’ve heard that transmissions sometimes have to be upgraded through software or whatever… Is that true?

It is for a lot of newer models. A reputable shop will check this for you ahead of time and make sure that the necessary upgrades are made before any transmission repairs are made on your vehicle. However, that requires that you have a vehicle that has a transmission that is controlled by a transmission control module.

What should I be looking out for if I think that I have a problem with my transmission?

Your vehicle might not be able to shift very well. The shifting that does occur can be unpredictable and abnormal. Your vehicle might also tell you that it has low fluid which might be indicative of a fluid leak.

If it is a leak then couldn’t I just get a can of that transmission leak stuff?

We would not recommend it. If improperly used, the chemicals can cause other problems if they get into the wrong areas. You could plug some very essential areas of your transmission which could cause damage to your vehicle especially the engine. An engine costs a lot more to fix or replace.

What kind of problems should I be looking for if this is an immediate problem and should be looked at like right now?

Transmission lights with illumination on your dashboard or anywhere else signaling a problem is important. If you cannot shift to certain gears or even one of them then you might have a serious problem. If your shifting is laggy or delayed then you need to have it checked by a professional.

Ok, so, how do I visit you in person or call you then?
